One of the earliest Three Stooges shorts finds them in the boxing business. As in prize fighting, that is.
"Punch Drunks" starts with Moe as a manager looking for a fighter. Larry has his violin with him, and when he plays "Pop Goes The Weasel", Curly goes berserk, and Moe's found his meal ticket.
The boys wrote the script themselves, which happened to be a rare treat, as it turns out. Too bad they didn't do enough writing as time wore on. Curly, as co-writer, is credited under his real name, Jerry (short for Jerome).
Curly would later find himself back in the ring, but wrestling instead of boxing. Kind of makes you wonder if he actually had any athletic ability that was hindered by the limp he had......
