Yeah, the date's right, pilgrims. Lemme tell ya'll why.
Def Leppard charted in 1987 with "Pour Some Sugar on Me", off "Hysteria". 22 years later, the British band crossed over to CMT to appear on Crossroads and the CMT Music Awards. However, singer Joe Elliott handed off lead vocal chores on "Sugar" to none other than..........Taylor Swift.
The hook to Crossroads, y'see, was getting rock & country artists, either contemporary or of different generations, on the same stage. Kid Rock, for example, had already crossed over to country by the time he teamed with Lynyrd Skynyrd. T-Swizzle going metal for a night or two might've been part of the inspiration behind her eventual decision to leave country music behind for pop.
Now, it would've been even cooler if Taylor totally rocked an old school metal babe look, with dark hose to go with the knee boots......
