You've read about how Cincinnati Bengals defensive back Adam "Pacman" Jones assaulted Oakland Raiders rookie receiver Amari Cooper on Sunday. We don't know the motivation behind Jones' actions, but maybe the roots of the incident come from something less than 24 hours earlier in Linden, New Jersey:
I mean, seriously? Look, I know Jones spent some time moonlighting as a part-time wrestler with TNA a few years back, but this is just flat out stupid. Had the officials actually seen this play, the defensive player (#1) would've not only been flagged 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct, but ejected from the game. There is talk, as noted in the video, that a criminal investigation may yet happen.
A few days earlier, in San Antonio, Texas, two players attacked a referee, allegedly on orders from an assistant coach who claimed the official used racial slurs during the game. Supposedly, said ref's crew also missed some calls. The following video comes from Good Morning America, and does not have George Stephanopoulos' interview with the players, which aired today.
We don't know all the facts. What I do know is that I don't read about these things in the home district. Oh, there was an incident at Whitehall last year, but that seems remotely tame compared to these two cases.
