It happens that "Weird" Al Yankovic was in town tonight on his Alpocalypse tour, so I thought I'd throw this nugget of joy in.
Al pays tribute to The Flintstones while sending up 2 Red Hot Chili Peppers hits, "Give It Away" & "Under the Bridge", and tweaking the intro to Blind Melon's "No Rain" video, to create the riotous "Bedrock Anthem". Uploaded by Al's VEVO channel:
Love Weird Al!!
ReplyDeleteI loved most everything he's done starting with "Eat It!" right to the present. He's dorky and darn proud of it!!
He must have made an impact in recent years... he turned up on an episode of "Batman, The Brave & The Bold" in a Batman/Scooby Doo crossover!
I think the world needs Weird Als to help shake up the entertainment community; they take themselves too seriously!
I gotta remember to post that Weird Al/Scooby/Batman teaming sometime, probably before the end of the month. It's part of the "Batman's Strangest Cases" episode.
ReplyDeleteOh I'd love that!
ReplyDeleteI thought they did a brilliant job with it just as the writers did such a great job with the Space Ghost homage!
BTB&TB has some great writers who get it!
First time I heard Al was his take on the Kinks "Lola" with a song called "Yoda", that and his Queen satire entitled "Another One Rides the Bus".
ReplyDelete"Another One Rides The Bus" was the first Weird Al song I'd heard. That Al is still going strong more than 30 years later is a testament to the man's dedication to his craft. To think that he started out recording in a public restroom in college with a mere tape recorder......
