No other song says "Summer" than the Lovin' Spoonful's seminal 1966 hit, "Summer in the City". I don't know what show the band was on from whence this clip was made, but right now, that doesn't matter, does it?
Despite having been released in '66, it seems timeless - and it's always relevant - especially if you've spent a hot night or two in NYC summers!

I think the first time I'd ever heard this song was when it was used for a commercial for a charity called, The Fresh Air Fund. It used to send underprivileged city kids to the country to enjoy summer vacations away from the grimy city scene.

I saw that ad, back around the time we first got cable and had access to channels 5, 9, & 11 in NYC. However, I'd heard the song long before then.
