Styx's 1983 album, "Kilroy Was Here", was actually an intricate rock opera. The first single, "Mr. Roboto", bordered on social commentary, as it presented a vision of a dystopian future where robots were in control. While I'm not sure about the ballad, "Don't Let it End", which was the immediate follow-up single, the last one to come from the album, "Heavy Metal Poisoning", continued the rock opera narrative, but wasn't quite as successful.
The video, in this writer's opinion, may have set up Dennis DeYoung's career change, as he would gravitate to the Broadway stage not long after releasing his solo album, "Desert Moon".
