Teri Desario peaked at #2 on the pop chart in early 1980, teaming with KC (Harry Casey), minus the Sunshine Band, for a cover of Barbara Mason's 1965 hit, "Yes, I'm Ready".
Now, with prom season around the corner, how many of today's kids do you think would want to hear this song?
Unfortunately, Desario never reached that high on the charts again, and I think this was the last hit for Casey, too.
K.C. did have one more hit single in him with the Sunshine Band. "Give it Up" made the top 20 in 1984.
ReplyDeleteAh, yeah. Trying to get back in the game. Now that you mention it, Hal, I remember hearing that at least once. He didn't adjust to the changing musical interests of the 80's.
ReplyDeleteI thought the song was fine, and sometimes it doesn't hurt to have tunes that are a bit "retro" . IIRC, various songs from the 60s became hits all over again back in the 80s (like Twist & Shout and Do You Love Me?).
ReplyDeleteThe 80's saw three Tommy James songs covered (Joan Jett-Crimson & Clover; Billy Idol-Mony Mony; Tiffany-I Think We're Alone Now), but no one's tried "Yes, I'm Ready", even in this era of female empowerment, since 1979-80, that I know of.
