Only in The South: A church usher dies from COVID-19, and his pastor says it's a lie......

Louisiana pastor Tony Spell is in trouble again.

After it was reported that Harold Orillion, 78, an usher at Spell's Life Tabernacle Church, had passed away due to complications from COVID-19, Spell claimed it was a lie, and that the usher had died "of a broken heart" over an unrelated matter.

Spell has even gone so far as to suggest his congregation donate their incoming stimulus checks to Life Tabernacle. And that's assuming Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards doesn't shut Spell down first.

While I get that Spell and his flock believe their faith will pull them through the pandemic, Spell has steadfastly refused to comply with Edwards' orders to "shelter in place". As we've previously noted, Spell won't do an online service, because it takes away the laying on of hands of ailing parishoners. Dude, you can still pray for them.

A pastor in Virginia had passed away recently after trying to keep his church open. Virginia is one of the states where there are active protests supported by President Trump to try to end the "shelter in place" mandates. Like, hello? Trump was encouraging people to "shelter in place" in the first place. It makes you wonder how much pressure has gotten to Trump..........

  1. I'm certain the numbers of deaths attributed to Corona are being inflated. First, it's a fact that the government is paying hospitals thousands of dollars for every corpse with Corona as a COD. Second, a contact in Florida told me that the Dept. Of Health wanted to change the COD of a friend's grandmother (who died in December of 2019) to Corona!

There are tons of memes as well - showing people dying of all conventional causes, but a cough beforehand lead COD to be listed as Corona. For all I know, some people who think they have it, may just be hypochondriacs - or just have a cold. It's farcical.

Chances are, virtually all these people died from issues not related directly to Corona - maybe they had HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, pneumonia, diabetes, etc.. Considering how empty many hospitals are right now and the lack of testing lines, I'm wondering if there really is a pandemic at all.

  2. Some have not had symptoms, but have tested positive, which would raise a red flag.

What I don't get is Trump outlining a three phase system to reopen the country one minute, then encouraging protests in Michigan, Virginia, et al after he'd made the recommendations for "shelter in place". Someone give him a psych exam STAT!

  3. Because one should not shut down a nation's economy over what is little more than a flu virus! No other epidemic in a hundred years has ever caused the US to shut down. People have businesses to run and rent to pay and mouths to feed.

There is more to this than the media (or government) is letting on.

  4. @magicdog: Well, let's wait and see how many of these Trump loving cultists die after being outside protesting. I especially love the ones who were out there with guns. Were they going to shoot the virus if it walks up to them?

  5. One thing that I do know is that right now we need competent leadership to steer us through this ordeal, and Trump ain't it. It's almost like electing a racist game show hot as POTUS was a bad idea or something. Fat Bastard needs to go, ASAP!

  6. @hoobyfan: why does Trump do anything that he does? 'Cuase he's nuts!

@magicdog: I get where you and even these angry protestors are coming from: the people who aren't sick are getting stir crazy, people need to work and nobody wants a depression. I get that. But here's the thing: we still don't have a cure or vaccine for this virus, and won't for some time, and this thing is so new that no one is sure how to counteract it yet; until then, EVERYONE is vulnerable. We can't just re-open everything tomorrow and start hi-fiving one another while this thing is still being transmitted everywhere. So blocking traffic so hospital workers can't do their essential jobs and screaming obscenities at Democratic governors for trying to keep everyone safe doesn't accomplish anything. And Trump as usual is only making things worse by pouring gasoline onto the flames. These folks decked out in flag gear and dressed like colonists need to realize that the Orange Stain isn't their friend; he's just taking advantage of their ignorance and anger at "the other side" to ensure he gets re-elected, 'cause as soon as he's a private citizen again he's a got a lot to answer for, and he knows this.

The country WILL re-open, but it's gonna happen all at once. It will gradual, in phases. We'll still have to shield ourselves for a while and stores and restaurants and sporting events will still have to have limited attendance. And to top it all off, there's no one at helm directing this properly; The guy in charge has no desire to help in any meaningful way, we're on our own.

The best things these guys can do is calm their butts down, go home and grin and bear for just a little while longer. Huddling together in protest with no masks ain't helping to flatten the curve, guys. Exaggerated or not, this thing is very real, and we need to squash it however possible if these guys ever want to go back to getting their hair did or going out for a drink again.

  7. *I mean it's NOT gonna happen all at once. Dang it!

  8. Silverstar's right. Trump had outlined a three-phase plan on Thursday, only to turn right around and give his seal of approval to the protestors in Michigan, Virginia, Minnesota, and likely also in California.

He won't be a private citizen in the traditional sense after he leaves office. Next stop, Bellevue.

  9. Thanks, man.

On my final note: 3 of the people who've derided this virus as "exaggerated" or "little more than the flu" have now died from it. Make of that what you will.

  10. I make that they died of something else, and the hospital they died in got extra money for labeling COD as Corona.

  11. @Magicdog: Evidence to support your theory, please.

  12. 'Dog, I like you, man, but that's some tinfoil hat stuff right there.

  14. Dude, why are you directing me to this? Hoobyfan asked. I didn't. I don't read right-wing conspiracy rags, but they are handy when I run out of bathroom tissue.

  15. I was asked for proof. I provided it. Just because you don't like the answer doesn't make it false. You're more than welcome to disprove my source. Call Dr. Jensen's office and ask for a copy of the 7 page order. Call your local hospitals and ask them if they're getting extra money for every death that can be attributed to Corona. See what they say.

Here's another interview in which Dr. Jensen tells his story - NOT a "right wing" site:

I should also mention in Florida, a contact of mine told me that the Florida Dept. Of Health wanted to change the COD of a friend's grandmother - who died back in December! I'm guessing that they have incentive to pad the numbers out.

  16. Again, you weren't asked by me, so no need to address your answer specifically to me. Alls I know is that I don't want to catch this thing, and while I want things to re-open as much as the next person, a mob of angry LARPers going out en masse to protest just because they can't bear the thought of staying home with their families for a month ain't helping to flatten the curve. Even if it is "just a little more than the flu", I don't want that either. I can only speak for myself, but I personally plan to do as little dying as possible.

@hobbyfan: apologies for the misspelling of your username. I wasn't trying to insult you, I'm just a terrible typist, especially when I can't edit.

  17. @Silverstar: No offense taken.

@Magicdog: Seeing as how Dr. Jensen was on Fox News' Ingraham Angle, and Laura Ingraham is no prize, I will guess this has already been debunked.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Not really. I plan on getting a copy of the 7 page order from Jensen's office and looking into this further. You're welcome to do the same.
