Dunce Cap Award. Nino Vitale

Ohio Congressman Nino Vitale declared he wasn't wearing a protective mask due to religious reasons.

Yes, he's a Republican and a Conservative. He claims that because we are molded in the image of God Himself, as the Bible teaches, he doesn't feel the need to conceal his face in the midst of COVID-19.

Now, we know he's walking in lockstep with President Trump, who has publicly stated he wouldn't wear a mask, either, but he's got image issues to concern himself with, more so than Vitale, who is simply declaring that his faith in God will protect him more than the guidelines that Trump and the Centers For Disease Control have mandated over the last two months. If Trump has as much faith in God as Vitale does, then I'd get the rationale behind Vitale's decision. Like, do I really need to invoke "Forrest Gump" here?

I have faith in God, too, but I'm not stupid. The masks are now mandatory until the pandemic ends. They're like American Express cards or house keys. You can't leave home without them. Ohio is one of those states that is gradually reopening to restore their economy. Vitale, however, is risking his health and those of his constituents by his open defiance of the law. That merits him a Dunce Cap. I'm pretty sure the President can loan him one of his.........

  1. Life is a risk, we don't wear helmets on the off chance we'll get in a car accident.

I've brought this up before - this is not about a virus. This is about two things:

    1) control of the populace to see how much they are willing to fall in line.

    2) The installation of 5G transmitters which emit a lot more radiation (and symptoms of low level radiation poisoning match the virus symptoms).

    3) To make Trump look bad by plummeting the economy into a state that would make the Great Recession of 2008 a cakewalk. The economy was doing much better until this "virus" became a thing and governors decided to shut down their states (all but 6, and the virus is no more a problem now than before the lockdowns in other states).

Face it, we've been played! We've been trolled, and we've been deprived of our freedoms and our livelihoods.

  2. Sorry, I meant three things, but there's no edit button to fix that!

  3. So you're buying into these conspiracy theories about 5G. Until there is evidence that bears it out, I'm not.

  6. Nah, I just don't buy into that whack theory about COVID-19 being a plot to bring down Trump. First, "they" (whoever "they" are) don't need to make Trump look bad; he does that to himself on a daily basis. Second, if the plan was just to take down Trump, why punish everyone else on the planet? Why not just take Trump out and make it look like an accident? If "they" are slick enough to fake a global pandemic, then surely they could make one incompetent, corrupt fake TV president disappear permanently.

Sorry, Magicdog, but you need to take off the tinfoil hat and accept reality. I wish that all this was fake. Reality bites, but we can't pretend that it's not really happening.

  7. @magicdog: I have two cousins who are nurses, and one of them has this thing. Come over to the hospital and explain to her how this virus isn't real.

  8. ^^ I was just going to point that out, but Goldstar (who's my brother for those who don't know) beat me to it. We have family members and friends who have caught this virus and acquaintances who have DIED from it, and these people are not and were not faking it. I'm getting a wee bit tired of people trying to minimize this, playing it off like it's nothing, I'm getting sick of these wannabe he-man gorillas refusing to wear masks to protect others because they think it's "sissy", I'm tired of these overgrown spoiled brats who can't be inconvenienced even a little, and REALLY getting tired of these nusto conspiracy theories.

'A plot to take down Trump'? My foot. If Trump had taken this virus seriously in the first place and if he hadn't dismantled the pandemic task force that Obama put into place years prior out of nothing but cheapness and sheer spite and jealousy over our previous President, we'd have been better prepared for this outbreak and it may not have hit our shores at all. And even now after royally screwing everything up, including the "roaring economy" he was so proud to crow about, this 'man' (and I use that in the loosest possible definition of the word) does nothing but pat himself on the back while he refuses to help, take any responsibility, offer any words of empathy or support or lead the country, y'know, the things he SWORE on the Bible to do as Commander-In-Chief.

So I say this with all the restraint that I can muster right now, Magicdog: kindly take your "5G is causing this", "it's just a hoax, no worse than the flu" and "this is just the Deep State attempting to make Trump look bad" for a very long walk off a very short pier.

  9. Trump, or, as the twins refer to him, Orange Foolius, claims to be a Christian, but that same Bible he swore the oath of office on would caution against pride leading to downfall. He's conned the Christians, especially the evangelicals, and rants like a spoiled child when he can't take the heat.
