For now, the games don't matter.....

As we are learning more about the circumstances surrounding the senseless, mindless shooting of Jacob Blake, an African-American father of three, by a white police officer, Rusten Sheskey, on Sunday, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, professional athletes are continuing to take a stand against police brutality, racial injustice and inequity, by stepping away from the field of play.

The Mets and Miami Marlins became the latest teams to postpone their game 20 minutes ago. The Mets took the field, but then, the dugouts emptied, and the players, coaches, & managers stood for a moment of silent prayer that actually lasted less than 60 seconds, mindful of the fact that tomorrow will be Major League Baseball's observance of Jackie Robinson Day, normally celebrated in mid-April.

Last night, after a 5-4 Mets win, Dominic Smith got emotional taking questions from the press...

As a life-long Mets fan, Dom, I'm with you.

The NBA playoffs were postponed for a 2nd straight day, and league officials are hoping to resume play tomorrow or Saturday.

It won't surprise anyone if there's a great amount of caterwauling coming from the White House come tomorrow, as the Republicans are ignoring, for the most part, the Blake case, and falsely blaming the Democrats for the violence in the wake of the incident.

Players are people, too, and they care. We all should.

  1. This is getting ridiculous!!

Firstly, I'm not happy with players (and by extension, owners) doing this political grandstanding. They are athletes who get paid HUGE sums of money to play sports. Sure, they train and deal with sports injuries but they still make a very good living at it. They see more money in a year than we'll see in a lifetime. Then they "take a knee" for thugs who got shot because they wouldn't comply with the cop's orders. They should be playing the game and leave it at that. They're entitled to their personal opinions and beliefs but they should not let it bleed onto the field. The owners could put the kibosh on this, but you know that they're letting these overpaid goofs put on this charade. If you're going to take a knee, it should be for the business owners who lost their livelihoods due to the mobs who've been allowed to run roughshod for months across the country.

Speaking of mobs, those claiming Jacob Blake was wronged had better look a bit more closely. He was high on drugs and was not obeying police commands. He was tasered first when he ignored the police. Then he was going into his car to fetch a knife (which was found in the car) and who knows what he would have done next if police hadn't shot him. I'm certain this was a righteous shoot, because there's a rhyme and reason why PD took the route they did. Blake was also no choir boy, nor were the other names invoked in the media (George Floyd et al) who might be alive today had they not resisted arrest or attracted PD attention in the first place.

  2. There are conflicting reports about what led to Blake getting shot.

The reports that he had a knife have not been confirmed, from what I've read. Supposedly, he was trying to break up a domestic problem. Other accounts claim he was violating an order of protection. At no time in any of the articles I read online did it state that he was on drugs. An arrest warrant issued last month was the reason he was handcuffed to his hospital bed, but bail money was paid, and they removed the cuffs as of yesterday.

The riots, as usual, are an extreme overreaction. There are peaceful protests, and there are agitators, just like in the aftermath of the Floyd murder.

And how to explain a 17 year old punk, Kyle Rittenhouse, driving from Illinois with a weapon that he can't legally have, and act like a vigilante, killing two and wounding one more? The cops let him go, not realizing that he had in fact broken the law. Self defense for this punk? Nope.

  3. The criminal complaint against Blake:

This article goes into a bit more detail:

I was waiting for you to get to Kyle Rittenhouse. One of my contacts who lives in the Kenosha area had this to say:

The boy's dad owns a business in Kenosha and asked him to come and help protect it from looters. Kyle also was in town the day before he shot those thugs to help clean up the graffiti they left behind. There are stills online showing him doing just that.

I also saw video which proves Kyle was justified in shooting his attackers - all three of whom were violent criminals - one was Joseph Rosenbaum - a sex offender who raped a 12 year old. One of the thugs who survived Gaige Grosskreutz who was shot in the arm told a friend who reported to the media that he was going to kill Kyle. He was also shown to have been armed with a pistol when he got his arm nearly blown off.

Gaige said his only regret was not killing Kyle!

Anthony Huber - pounding Kyle with a skateboard. Not the first time I've seen boards used in these riots. You can be killed if hit in the head with one:

I highly recommend Andy Ngo's twitter feed - he's what independent journalists used to be! He deserves a Pulitzer for his unbiased reporting on these events.

Self defense? Definitely yes! He's being represented by the attorney who cleared the name of Nick Sandmann. She's providing her services pro bono since GofundMe and Fundly shut down his platforms while they continue to keep platforms open for other rioters looking for money.

  4. Funny. Black guy? Maximum justice. White guy? Maximum mercy. Your arguments outline the very heart of this current discourse.

  5. Maximum mercy for the white guy? You must be watching from an alternative universe where things are reversed!

He is being treated like a criminal (as are many whites who act in self defense) and mainstream media outlets are outright lying about him, while praising the criminal blacks whose own actions are the reasons for their deaths? How about the case of Ahmaud Arbery? Three whites are arrested for murder despite the video showing Arbery was up to no good and was NOT jogging, and when confronted by an ex-lawman and his son, decided to grab the son's gun? How about "white hispanic" George Zimmerman? He was demonized for acting in self defense despite initially being cleared of shooting little thug Travon. I could go on and on but it would take too long.

How about whites who are brutally murdered and largely ignored in the media? Cannon Hinnant? Veronica Lee Baker? Officer Johnathan Shoop? Jessica Whitaker??

    Anyone?

  6. This is why I can't be bothered with the evening news anymore. There are conflicting stories on both sides. Rittenhouse is being presented as an agitator/vigilante. He didn't have a legal right to carry a gun since he's under 18, so he's definitely in legal trouble.

Blake was no saint, either. Yes, it was reported that he had a rap sheet, but the details surrounding his being shot have been exaggerated. Seven bullets is six too many. One shot, clipping him in the knee, would've been sufficient.
