In its 2nd season, The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis had its title shortened to, simply, Dobie Gillis, which was easier for viewer recognition.
And, so, for the 2nd annual Christmas episode, "Jangle Bells", Dobie (Dwayne Hickman) takes part in a reading of Dickens' A Christmas Carol, but is otherwise, as usual, concerned for his running buddy, Maynard (Bob Denver).
Also, it turns out that Hickman had released an album between seasons, and this was the 2nd episode to feature a track from the album.
