When Icons Meet: Fred Gwynne on The Red Skelton Hour (1965)

What a way to start October!

It's the spring of 1965, near the end of season 1 of The Munsters, so it seems natural that star Fred Gwynne appears as Herman, as well as Abraham Lincoln in a separate skit, on The Red Skelton Hour. Herman factors into the Freddie the Freeloader skit. If you saw the Christmas episode with Cara Williams dressed as Raggedy Ann, if ya will, you have an idea of the format. Art Gilmore is our announcer.

Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas were part of the British Invasion that kicked off a year or two earlier. While "Little Children" still gets airplay on oldies channels, "From a Window", an even better song, is all but forgotten.

Rating: A-.
