 In retirement, Drew Brees can't seem to keep a job for very long.

Since retiring from the NFL in 2019, Brees spent a year with NBC as a studio and occasional game analyst. After NBC decided not to renew him, Brees signed on as a brand ambassador and pitchman for PointsBet.

And, now, that gig is gone, too.

A scant more than 2 weeks ago, Brees returned to his alma mater, Purdue, to serve as an assistant coach after head coach Jeff Brohm bolted for Louisville. That raised some concerns with a commission in New Jersey, which pulled all bets from Purdue's bowl game. PointsBet decided to do the honorable thing, and end their contract with Brees. Here, then, is the company's statement.....

Prediction: Brees could be elevated to head coach at Purdue within a few years if he connects with the players.

The College Football Playoff title game is now set.

Defending champion Georgia needed a 4th quarter comeback, and withstood a rally by Ohio State in the final minute to advance, 42-41, in the Peach Bowl, which was practically a de-facto home game for the Bulldogs at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The Buckeyes missed a potential game winning field goal in the final seconds to seal it for Georgia, which now will seek to repeat in the title game January 9 at SoFi Stadium.

Waiting for them will be Texas Christian University (TCU), which eliminated the Big 10's other entrant, previously undefeated Michigan, 51-45. However, that game was not without controversy.

At issue was what looked like a touchdown pass from Michigan's JJ McCarthy to Roman Wilson. Except that the zebras, representing the SouthEastern Conference (SEC) said Wilson didn't have control upon falling into the end zone. Replays showed, however, that, yes, Wilson did have control. Former NFL ref Terry McAulay, now a rules analyst for NBC blasted the game officials on Twitter. The Wolverines turned the ball over on a fumble on the very next play.

Toward the end of the game, a TCU player appeared to have been flagged for targeting, but the refs picked up the flag after the review. Ballgame over.

Of course, Michigan fans are crying foul, but remember, the game officials represented the SEC, Georgia's home league. Why not a crew from the Pac-12 or ACC, which didn't have a dog in the fight? Of course, there will be conspiracy theories, because, why not?

Still, it does create a fresh matchup for the 9th. A Big 12 school reaches the title game for the first time since 2009. The Big 10 does another flop, as Michigan chokes in the semi-finals for the 2nd straight year.
