These things we know are true. Donald Trump is a very insecure old man, nearly 80, can't handle any kind of criticism, and is now abusing his authority to gain revenge on anyone & everyone who has ever "offended" him because he doesn't know anything about humility. He wasn't taught any of that.
After ABC/Disney was forced to suspend talk show host Jimmy Kimmel "indefinitely" earlier this week, Sinclair Broadcasting, which owns the CBS & CW affiliates in the 518, demanded that Kimmel apologize and make a donation. The problem with that, of course, is that FCC attack dog Brendan Carr deliberately lied about Kimmel's Monday monologue, which suggested that Tyler Robinson, the alleged shooter who cut down Charlie Kirk 10 days ago, might've been a MAGA supporter, but he didn't say that was actually true. That's the part Carr, and, as you'll hear shortly, Texas Senator Raphael "Ted" Cruz, are ignoring, again, intentionally, because the whole point is to keep the GOP base riled up.
However, there has been pushback on both sides.
CNN's Jake Tapper went on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Friday, and warned that if the Democrats retake the White House, say, in 2028, they could conceivably retaliate, and do the same thing with their own FCC chair that Carr is doing now. This particular warning was first sounded Thursday by Fox Business' Kennedy (Lisa Kennedy Montgomery). The former MTV VJ (ex-Alternative Nation) may have caught the panel off guard, but she's not wrong, and neither is Tapper. Ex-Fox host Tucker Carlson also slammed the suspension.
Brian Tyler Cohen compiled sound bytes from Carlson, Kennedy, & Cruz before Tapper's interview with Colbert.
