Batwoman 2.0? CW seems to think so

After Ruby Rose's shocking decision to leave Batwoman after 1 season, WB and CW had said they were actively seeking a new lead to take over the cowl.

Now, the studio, per a since deleted press release that turned up on Reddit, has decided that when Batwoman returns in 2021, be it in January or later, it won't be Kate Kane (Rose) under the mask & wig.

SAY WHAT??

There reportedly is a casting call for someone to play "Ryan Wilder" (preliminary character name as far as we know), who, like Kate, is an out lesbian. Apparently, WB suits discovered that there would be concerns about recasting the role of Kate Kane, the fraternal twin sister of Beth Kane, aka Alice (Rachel Skarsten), so they decided to reboot. Not sure if DC's aware of any plans, because insofar as they're concerned, Kate is Batwoman. Period. End of story. While there've been a few Robins & Batgirls, and fill-in Batmen, too, in recent years, DC'd be pressured into doing a storyline before the end of the year to introduce a new Batwoman, so for now, I'd say this decision would catch them by surprise.

All we can say for now is, stay tuned.
