An Angel and a cougar (1976)

The cougar had long been the mascot of Ford's Mercury division, and during the 70's, a series of ads aired that touted the annual rollout of the growing line of Mercury Cougar vehicles.

The legendary Ernie Anderson, by now studio announcer for ABC, would take side gigs like this one. Would've made a great game show announcer, too. The closest he got was being the announcer in the early years of America's Funniest Home Videos, but I digress.

From 1976, a preview of the 1977 line, with Farrah Fawcett (Charlie's Angels), who had been doing some of these ads for a couple of years.

Yes, I know. Farrah was still Farrah Fawcett-Majors, married to Lee Majors (The Six Million Dollar Man) at the time, but the union didn't survive the decade. Neither did her Ford contract.

@Hobbyfan: actually, Ernie Anderson did announce a game show... he was the announcer for Jack Barry and Dan Enright's version of Break The Bank when it was in syndication during the 1976-1977 TV season after ABC canceled the daytime version(Johnny Jacobs having announced that incarnation).

There are episodes on YouTube naturally; I've seen a couple of the ones that are on there, and it wasn't too bad of a show...

Oh, that's right. I forgot about that, and I have an episode or two on the blog. In the words of Homer Simpson, D'OH!!!

BTW, in case you've been following the soap opera over at Animesuperhero.com, they're hoping to be back up & running by the end of this week after being sidelined for 2 months with software issues.
