A little of this and a little of that

America's Oldest Baby, President Donald Trump, is demanding a piece of the profits if the China-based social media site Tik-Tok is sold to an American concern, say, for example, Microsoft. He's waffled on the idea of banning Tik-Tok outright, just because users trolled him prior to the Tulsa rally in June by buying up tickets with no express intention of actually attending.

                                                   "WAAAHH! Shut Tik-Tok down!!"

Senate Minority Whip James Clyburn, meanwhile, believes Trump will go so far as to use emergency powers to stay in office if he were to lose the election in November. Sorry, Mr. Clyburn, but that won't help the President at all. The Constitution mandates that there would be a change of leadership on January 20 if Trump loses, and there's nothing President Manchild can do about it. He's ignoring all the experts who've asserted that there's very little chance of voter fraud via mail-in (or absentee) ballots. He's that desperate to remain in Washington past the expiration of his term, should he lose.

All this does is give a rallying cry to what's left of his base, which is still considerable.

Fox Shmooze's Tucker "Used" Carlson was at it again Monday, claiming that if Joe Biden picks a woman to be his running mate, especially an African-American, that would be, in Carlson's warped mind, "illegal". No, it isn't.

Each party has tried to run a co-ed Presidential ticket without success in the last 36 years.

First, it was the Democrats, who chose New York's own Geraldine Ferraro to run alongside Walter Mondale in a bid to defeat Ronald Reagan in 1984. Reagan was re-elected in a landslide.

Then, just a few short years ago, the Tea Party Republicans chose then-Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as the running mate for the late Senator John McCain against President Barack Obama and Biden. That didn't work, either, so for Carlson to claim that it's illegal if Biden picks a woman, then he's just being a hypocrite, in addition to being a sycophant for President Trump.

For this latest baseless accusation, Carlson gets the Weasel ears.

When 2020 started, Emmy winning actress-talk show host Ellen DeGeneres was shilling for Spectrum Cable's mobile phone service, a gig she has had the last couple of years.

Then, a few weeks back, she was quietly replaced without explanation, and the ads where she actually appeared were taken off the air. The ones where she did the voice-over narration were redubbed with a male announcer.

I think now we know why.

By now, you know that there've been reports of a toxic work environment on the set of her talk show, and that she's not the cheerful, dancing, daytime princess we see on TV five days a week. Actors Lea Thompson & Brad Garrett have both made comments on the issue, and there is a rumor that DeGeneres might just consider ending her series after 17 years, which more than triples her ground breaking, self-titled ABC sitcom from the 90's in terms of time on the air. Those rumors also link CBS Late, Late Show host and Keurig pitchman James Corden as a possible successor.

Stay tuned.

As school districts across the country prepare for a new school year, there are reports of over 260 people in Georgia who've either tested positive for coronavirus, or have been exposed to someone who has the virus.

In contrast, as classes began in Indiana on Monday, one student tested positive, and was isolated by school officials.

Of course, the Peach State is governed by a self-serving Trump sycophant (Brian Kemp) who does what his master wants, and the state suffers.

Meanwhile, back in upstate New York, school districts are preparing phased plans for reopening schools next month with a mix of in-person and remote learning. In New York, we err on the side of caution, and it's working.

In the wake of Yoenis Cespedes' sudden decision to opt out after 10 games, the Mets lost 3/4 of their starting infield on Monday against Atlanta.

Jeff McNeil, who was set to play left field for a change, was a late scratch with back issues. During the game, shortstop Amed Rosario (quad) and 2B Robinson Cano, the team's hottest hitter (groin), were removed. Of the three, McNeil seems the most likely to return first, but the scenario's not good headed into a 2 game series at Washington, starting tonight.

Atlanta starter Mike Soroka was KO'd for the season in the 3rd inning after rupturing his Achilles' tendon while trying to make a play. The Braves already are without new acquisitions Cole Hamels & Felix Hernandez, the latter of whom also opted out, making a run at a 3rd straight division title that much more difficult.

And it's only going to get worse. Trust me.

Tik Tok is a product of the Chinese government and used to spy on those who have it installed on their devices. Even people who barely posted anything have been approached by blackmailers claiming to have personal records that were taken from that device. Even removing it is not a guarantee so best not to have it at all. Of course I blame Microsoft and any other US company which sees fit to do business with a government that uses slave labor and abuses its citizens.

I've heard the rumors about Ellen for quite some time. Like her predecessor, Rosie O'Donnell, she's put on a hell of a front (thanks to her publicists, etc) but she is NOT the Queen of Nice - not by a long shot. Working on set is misery for the majority of people there, even to the point where Ellen tells people not to look her in the eyes when speaking to her or passing in the hall! She thinks she's Barbra Streisand! I will not miss her!

Success in this venue has gone to her head, it seems.
