Sports this 'n' that

David Wright, who played 15 seasons, all with the Mets, had his number retired Saturday at Citi Field, the fourth such retirement ceremony at Citi in the last three years (Keith Hernandez, Dwight Gooden, & Darryl Strawberry).

We pick up the ceremony in progress from the Mets' YouTube channel.

Come game time, however, the Mets, for the 2nd straight day, tanked an early 2-0 lead, and dropped a 5-2 decision to Cincinnati. Someone pointed out on Reddit that the Mets historically have lost games on the days where they honor their former stars, such as Hernandeez and Gooden.

The series concludes today with the Mets looking to snap a 3 game losing streak.

Wrestler-actor Marc Bagwell was back in the news recently, but not in a good way.

Bagwell, who came up with WCW in the early 90's, had his leg amputated after a recent accident. Bagwell wrestled for WCW up until the company was acquired by what is now World Wrestling Entertainment in 2001, and had one match for his new employers before being released in July 2001.

As an actor, Bagwell made guest appearances on Charmed (1st series) and Burke's Law (2nd series), and appeared in a number of films for Andy Sidaris.

We wish Marc a speedy recovery, and the best for the future.

One time Little League phenom Mone Davis is getting back on the diamond.

Wire service reports state that Davis has signed on to play in a women's baseball league, which will launch next year. She has done some TV work in the interim since her college career ended.

We'll see how far this goes.
