Nashville's loss is pop music's gain.
Taylor Swift made the decision to shift from country to pop, perhaps feeling she's done everything that needed to be done on the country charts. Her first full-on pop CD, "1989", already has two singles out. The first, "Shake It Off", was all over the place this summer. We already knew that Taylor was easy on the eyes, and she even looks great dressed as a ballet dancer.
With all the crossovers between the pop & country charts over the years, maybe Taylor thinks she can teach pop thrushes like Ariana Grande, who has become tabloid bait of late, a few things.

Transitions between country, pop, and rock is nothing new but Taylor can obviously pull it off with the right song.
This one works well, since I like a bubbly song; half the fun are the tribute videos using the song but people make their own version. Currently there's one which has the song synched up perfectly to the 1988 Aerobic Championships! It's on YT and it's eerie to see a song in tune with events 25 years ago!
T-Swizzle, as she called herself doing a parody rap with T-Pain a few years back, has the range to make it work. 1989 was the year she was born, and that's the reason why she chose it for the CD title.
Given a choice, I'd take Taylor over Miley and the rest of the gullible kids in a heartbeat.
