Santana's "Winning" was the 3rd single off their 1981 album, "Zebop". Featuring the vocals of Scotland's Alex Ligertwood, "Winning" soared up the charts in the summer of '81, right after ye scribe graduated from high school.
Funny thing. A couple of wise guys on YouTube thought that future TV star Mario Lopez was one of the back-up singers. Not even close.

Ah memories. I was 12, this was my introduction to Santana.
I was familiar with Santana before that, having heard Black Magic Woman and Evil Ways on the radio as a youth.
