Second generation rocker Rocky Burnette scored his only Top 10 hit in the summer of 1980 with "Tired of Toein' The Line", off the album, "Son of Rock & Roll" (dad was 50's star Johnny Burnette). Six years before Robert Palmer used a group of models to pretend to be his band, Rocky did the same thing, but with a little more flash.
Nearly 40 years later, Burnette is still touring, mostly overseas or domestically on the nostalgia circuit, but there was no getting away from this "Line" that summer.

Loved this song then, it's still fun now. Hard to believe Rocky never had another hit.
How many hits did his dad have on the charts?
He had a handful, "Sweet Sixteen" was probably the biggest and most enduring, but "Dreamin'" and "Little Boy Sad" both made the top 20. More might have followed if Johnny Burnette hadn't tragically drowned at age 30.
I'll have to look them up, because I don't think I've heard any of Johnny's songs.
"You're Sixteen", I mean. Can't believe I messed that title up. Ringo Starr's cover might well be better known than Burnette's original, since it went to # 1 in 1973.
I actually like Rocky's hit better than any of his father's. Just a great, fun song.
And the fact that Rocky's having fun making the video certainly helps.
