The late 80's saw a new wave of singer-songwriters. It wasn't just the likes of Bruce Hornsby, mind you, but rather also some very talented women.
While Suzanne Vega & Tracy Chapman were getting heavy airplay on MTV & VH1, the networks were lagging behind when it came to Shawn Colvin.
Although a music veteran of more than 15 years, Colvin released her major label debut in 1989. "Steady On", the CD, won a Grammy for best contemporary folk album. "Steady On", the single, still gets some airplay today on alternative rock & adult contemporary channels.
Colvin's 1992 follow-up, "Fat City", was also nominated for a Grammy, but it was her 1996 single, "Sunny Came Home", which netted Colvin some more Grammys.
