Musical Interlude: Vision of Love (1990)

Once upon a time, in 1990, MTV introduced viewers to a up and coming singer blessed with the voice of an angel.

Mariah Carey debuted with "Vision of Love", the first in a string of #1 hits.

Sadly, time has not been kind to Mariah since then. Two failed marriages, a movie flop, and, as icing on the cake of disgrace, the now-infamous performance on New Year's Eve that has illustrated how far Mariah has fallen, more than 25 years after her debut. Carey and her handlers are claiming her appearance on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest was sabotaged because of faulty equipment. Seeing as how I didn't see the show, I can't judge, but suffice to say that as listeners are gravitating to younger singers such as Ariana Grande, Mariah, ignoring the fact that she hasn't had a hit record in years, is playing the diva card to keep her name in the limelight. Unfortunately, it's having the opposite effect than what she is hoping for. Apparently, she thinks she's too good for the nostalgia circuit. Then again, when a younger singer like Britney Spears is reduced to residencies in Las Vegas at such an early stage in her career.......!
