Song & dance man Danny Kaye spent four seasons (1963-7) entertaining viewers on CBS with his self-titled variety series. It's just a pity he wasn't given a second go-round, unlike, say for example, Andy Williams, whose NBC show was cancelled, then brought back for another go-round, then cancelled a second time.
If you only know Kaye from his movies, the fact that he was a founding co-owner of the Seattle Mariners, or his tireless charity work back in the day for UNICEF, scope the show out. It's a treat.
Edit, 1/21/2020: Had to change the video. Here's a sample open from the final season.
Of course, you know that series regular Harvey Korman would later fill a similar role with Carol Burnett, and I think he might've segued to Burnett's show as Kaye's was coming to an end. Henry Beckman is better known as a respected character actor (i.e. Here Come The Brides)
Rating: A.
