ABC's latest primetime game show is a generous mix of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, Child's Play, and, because of some of the quips of the kiddo's on this show, Kids Say The Darndest Things.
Child Support was originally titled Five to Survive when it was first pitched in 2016. The current title seems a little odd, given the societal connotations.
Anyway, Fred Savage (ex-The Wonder Years) is the genial MC. Ricky Gervais is in an isolated room with five children. In the opener, it appears we have some kids in between grades K-2. Gervais is clearly having fun, and so is Savage. Gervais doubles as an executive producer. If you look closely at the credits when watching the show, one of the production companies will be familiar to parents. Greengrass Productions is better known for producing Saturday morning programming back in the day (i.e. Bump in The Night).
Anyway, here's the opener:
I am begging ABC to repurpose this on a Saturday morning, mixed with the E/I programming from Litton.
Rating: A.
