A chapter in local history ends

Over at Tri-City SportsBeat, we noted the passing of Tri-City Valleycats owner William Gladstone due to complications from COVID-19. He wasn't the only one with local ties of any real significance to pass on.

Those of you of a certain age will remember Louise Woodruff, WRGB's "Weather Girl" during the 60's and early 70's, sharing weather duties with her mentor, Howard Tupper (TV Tournament Time). On Friday, it was reported that Ms. Woodruff, 97, had also passed away from complications due to COVID-19.

Louise gained national exposure in 1968 when she was invited to appear on What's My Line?, whose host, Wally Bruner, would later have another series, Wally's Workshop, air on WRGB. Louise left WRGB and the news business in 1972.

Following is a compilation of weather reports from '72 and her appearance four years earlier on Line. Included in the vidpack is Tupper shilling for area Buick dealers.

Rest in peace.
