Memo to the President: If you don't know what's going on, keep your mouth shut!

"Well, there you go again."-----Ronald Reagan.

President Trump is at it again. Inflaming his base of suburban, disenfranchised, closet bigots by playing the race card where it doesn't belong.

First, Trump tore into NASCAR and, in particular, Bubba Wallace, the only African-American driver on the circuit, claiming the noose found in Team Wallace's garage was a "hoax", when it was anything but. He also ripped into the organization for removing anything that features the "stars & bars", aka the Confederate flag.

It's 2020, Mr. Trump. Wake up and join the modern world.

Trump is fighting a losing battle to preserve the statues of Confederate soldiers, such as Stonewall Jackson, whose likeness was taken down the other day. He signed an executive order to protect these monuments for the sake of history. On one hand, the statues do have some historical value. However, many of these statues, including former Presidents George Washington & Thomas Jefferson, represent a different era in our nation's history, when these men owned slaves. The Civil War was about putting an end to that era.

In college football, it should be noted, Oregon State and the University of Oregon will find another name for their annual rivalry game, retiring the "Civil War" label. In the wake of the Memorial Day murder of George Floyd, in a simple arrest gone awry in Minneapolis, one that sparked a national movement toward shutting down the practice of systematic racism in this country, anything that today's African-Americans, or people in general, find offensive will be a target of protest.

It wouldn't surprise us that Trump also secretly supports the "Kens" & "Karens" that have sprouted up across the country, initiating disputes with African-Americans just to get attention. If Trump wasn't in office, he'd probably be a "Ken".

President Donald John Archie Bunker Trump then turned his attention to the NFL's Washington franchise and baseball's Cleveland Indians, who both are considering making name changes. Indians skipper Terry Francona is in support of changes. The fact that, as we've noted, Washington owner Daniel Snyder is finally taking a look at changing the team's name, is an event in and of itself. Trump's response?

"WAAAAAAHHHHHH!!! Don't change the name! Remember tradition!! WAAAAHHH!!"

And, then, there is the Duchess of Dumb, press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, trying to justify her boss' stupid remarks, and, as usual, failing. All Trump is doing is sending not-so-veiled messages to the redneck army in the 'burbs that he needs help. Sorry, but the help he needs is beyond their scope. Trump's poll numbers, heading into a potentially disastrous Republican convention next month, are falling, as people are tiring of his act. Instead of trying to lead this country out of the coronavirus crisis, Trump is exacerbating the situation because of his ignorance and preference to use race as a means to ensure his voter base stays with him, and doesn't wander away.

We would be remiss if we didn't mention that son Dumb Donald II is dealing with coronavirus himself, as his girlfriend has tested positive, something pops is probably ignoring. If that doesn't smarten Dumb Donald II to the truth, nothing will. If Trump loses November 3, he'll have an escort when he leaves two months later. They'll just be wearing white suits and carrying butterfly nets......
