Names making news

When Craig Ferguson was doing his stint as host of CBS' Late, Late Show, he initiated a short-lived April Fools' Day tradition with pal Drew Carey in that Carey would take over The Late, Late Show, while Ferguson and announcer Shadoe Stevens took over The Price is Right. Ferguson's quick adjustment to being a game show host landed him some gigs in that venue in recent years, including ABC's just-cancelled reality game, The Hustler.

So for this April Fools' Day, yesterday, late night rivals Jimmy Fallon & Jimmy Kimmel swapped networks for a night.

Fallon was in Los Angeles, and Kimmel in New York, in the latter case a sort of homecoming, as Kimmel is from NYC. Both shows shared the same musical guest, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who paid tribute to Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who passed away last week.

Can't wait to see the ratings.

The man formerly known as the "Fresh Prince" has been humbled.

Five days after "The Slap", Will Smith resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (AMPAS), which means he won't vote on future Oscar winners, but he will be eligible still. In due course, he'll be readmitted.

Smith's actress-wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, has alopecia, a condition that causes hair loss, I think it is. Chris Rock made an ill-advised joke, and paid the price. Now, Smith has also paid, and the Academy is still considering further sanctions.

Colorado misrepresentative Lauren Bow-Wow thinks that people who are LGBTQ+ should wait until they're 21 before making any sort of declaration, citing the fact that 21 is also the minimum age for tobacco & alcohol products.

As usual, a brainless GOPer has her head in the sand. There's a huge difference between alcohol, tobacco, and sexual identity. It's clear the thin air in Colorado drained Lauren's brain cells when she was very young.

CW suits apparently don't believe the quarterly sweeps for ratings & ad revenues matter anymore.

Fans of Superman & Lois, in its 2nd season, and Naomi, a freshman drama, have to wait another three weeks, until April 26, for the next episode. In all, with each series having aired 9 episodes out of a scheduled 15 this season, there have been three break periods totaling 5 weeks, and reportedly, there will be another one in the middle of the May sweeps, pushing the end of the season into June. That speaks to a lack of fresh summer product, for one, and the prospect that summer hit Stargirl would begin season 3 in June instead of May, as it did the last two seasons.

Stay tuned.
