An early pilot for The Kopykats (Kraft Music Hall, 1970)

Contrary to what a lot of folks of my generation thought, The Kopykats started with two episodes of Kraft Music Hall between 1970-1. When producers Dwight Hemion & Gary Smith moved the series to ABC in 1972, half the cast in this episode didn't move.

Rich Little, George Kirby, and Frank Gorshin transitioned to the ABC version. As for the others......

Will Jordan, the most famous Ed Sullivan mimic on the planet, apparently declined to continue. So did David Frye and Edie Adams. They were succeeded by Joe Baker, Fred Travalena, and Marilyn Michaels.

Of the group, only Little is still around, still touring.

Comes complete with Kraft commercials narrated by Ed Herlihy, the show's announcer.

We all know that when the series moved to ABC, only 7 episodes were produced as part of The ABC Comedy Hour. In the winter of 1976, Little was given his own show by NBC, and that didn't last, either. Hmmmmmmmm.

Rating: B.
