There exists a certain amount of fan apathy toward teams that have had a run of success spanning years. In baseball, it's the Yankees, and the current World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers are catching heat for recent free agent signings that their detractors feel they don't need. In basketball, it's been the Boston Celtics and LA Lakers, especially during the 80's. In hockey, it was Montreal for a long time, and there were smaller "dynasties" in Edmonton and with the Islanders.
In football, there's been the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, and, now, if you believe media reports, the defending champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. Throughout this season, opposing fans have accused NFL officials of "rigging" Chiefs games in order to ensure Kansas City would have a chance to do what the Cowboys, Patriots, and others have failed to do, and that's win three titles in a row. Football is the only one of the big 4 sports where a 3-peat hasn't happened.
The conspiracy theories are laughable, especially when you factor in celebrity fans like singer Taylor Swift, currently dating Travis Kelce. It is the frustration of fans throughout the league, who don't see the Houdini-esque escape magic of Patrick Mahomes when it's right there in front of them.
In sharp contrast, there are shows of sympathy toward opposing players.
For example, Buffalo fans donated to charity on behalf of Baltimore tight end Mark Andrews, after a critical dropped pass in the divisional round against the Bills. Similarly, the Ravens are encouraging their fans to support the Bills' Dalton Kincaid after he dropped a pass against--guess who?----the Chiefs.
Now an executive producer of WWE programming as well as a company officer, Levesque, 55, will headline the 2025 Hall of Fame class. The rest of the class will be revealed over the next two months.
