We are now down to four.
On Sunday, the Super Bowl will be set after the NFC & AFC championship games, each threatening to become as much a bloated spectacle as the Super Bowl itself has in recent times.
So, let's get right into it.
NFC: Washington @ Philadelphia (Fox, 3 pm).
3rd meeting of the season between the NFC East rivals, and the upstart Commanders got there by upsetting top-seeded Detroit last week. The Lions have since seen offensive coordinator Ben Johnson (Chicago) and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn (Jets) leave to take head coaching jobs over the last four days.
There was talk earlier this season of Nick Sirianni being on the hot seat in Philadelphia, but that talk went away with the Eagles winning another division title. Saquon Barkley has had a breakout season to remember, eclipsing his best days with the Giants. Jalen Hurts has proven to be mortal, but at least they do have Kenny Pickett in the bullpen in case Hurts gets hurt again. The Eagles have given Barkley some protection in the offensive line, which, as Giants fans know, has been a weakness for years for Big Blue.
All Jayden Daniels has done in Washington is make the biggest case for Rookie of The Year. He outplayed Detroit's Jared Goff, and the Commanders are a hungry bunch. The franchise last went to the big dance in 1992 (following the '91 season), and beat Buffalo in the Super Bowl.
However, I don't think Washington's defense can stop Barkley. He'll be the one to put the final daggers into the Commanders' season, more than Hurts.
Pick: Philadelphia.
AFC: Buffalo @ Kansas City (CBS, 6:30 pm).
The Bills beat the Chiefs in the regular season, but now, this is even bigger. Kansas City has owned Buffalo in the post-season. The complaints about biased officiating favoring the defending champs is just old news, with detractors finding a new boogeyman to complain about in place of New England. Patrick Mahomes even admitted he shouldn't have tried an attempt at perceived flopping vs. Houston, and the ticky-tack calls against the Texans had conspiracy theorists turning on the Chiefs. Spare me.
There'll be about a dozen shots at a certain skybox if a certain young lady is present. And that's just being generous. By comparison, Bills QB Josh Allen is engaged to actress Hailee Steinfeld, but you don't see her at Bills games.
Just the same, Kansas City gets the last points. Again.
Pick: Kansas City.
Of course, I could be wrong.
