Musical Interlude: The Things we do For Love (1976)

10cc had gone through some tumult at the end of 1976, with original members Kevin Godley & Lol Creme leaving the group. It would take almost a decade before they'd find their way onto the American charts without their former partners ("Cry").

The rest of 10cc pressed on, releasing "The Things we do For Love" at the end of 1976 as a single. The track would later be included on the "Deceptive Bends" album that came out five months later. Eric Stewart sings lead, and some have mistakenly assumed that it was Paul Carrack (Ace, later of Squeeze and Mike + The Mechanics) on lead, because Stewart's vocals are similar.

Bassist-vocalist Graham Gouldman would get one more run on the charts as a member of Wax around the same time that Godley & Creme had their only Top 40 hit.
