In the end, everyone's worst fears were not realized

As bad as Florida State was on Saturday in getting destroyed in the Orange Bowl, the conspiracy theorists can rest easy. The SouthEastern Conference (SEC) won't have the National Champion in football after business concludes in the early hours of January 9.

Undefeated Michigan rallied to force overtime, then dispatched Alabama, 27-20, in the Rose Bowl. Despite all the issues surrounding coach Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines, they took care of business, even though they did cough up the lead in the 4th quarter, only to come back.

Those who believed that Alabama was inserted into the playoff field to ensure a rematch vs. Texas, which beat Alabama back in September, found their fears were unfounded, after all.

In New Orleans, at the Sugar Bowl, Washington, led by Heisman Trophy runner-up Michael Penix, Jr., defeated Texas in the Longhorns' last official game as a member of the Big 12, 37-31.

But, there were some idiots online who placed the blame for the Longhorns' loss, albeit unfairly, on Texas Senator and general nitwit Raphael "Ted" Cruz, a sports fan like most folks, but considered a jinx to teams in the Lone Star State. This is no different than Cruz's fellow right wingers, like Choo Choo Charlie Kirk, or sports idiots like Skip Bayless, scapegoating Taylor Swift for the Kansas City Chiefs' recent troubles.

In addition, ESPN's cameras caught a party-goer on the French Quarter flashing some cleavage for all the world to see. ESPN had to apologize for that earlier today, before those same right wing dimbulbs found another reason to complain about the network.

One thing is certain. The title game between Washington and Michigan, which, in another generation, would've been the Rose Bowl, will be a banger.
