Musical Interlude: Crawling From The Wreckage (1979)

Howzabout a little British rockabilly to start the day, no?

Dave Edmunds & Nick Lowe were the brains behind Rockpile, which was in various configurations during the late 70's and 80's, whilst both Edmunds & Lowe were also recording solo records for separate labels.

"Crawling From The Wreckage" was released in 1979, but ye scribe didn't discover it until way later on one of those classic rock stations. Unfortunately, the following video, it seems, was off MTV's playlist by the time the channel made its upstate debut in the winter of '82.

Still awesome after all these years.

There are days when I can't help but notice how the Brits retained the beauty of American Rock & Roll, long after our corporate overlords abandoned it for autotuned crap.

A lot of their solo work also reflected this - like Lowe's "Cruel To Be Kind" and Edmund's cover of "Something About You".

Listening to Lowe and Edmunds reminds me of just how much fun Rockabilly can be.

I have "Cruel to be Kind" up, having posted that months ago. Just use the search box.

I would hear "Crawling" on the radio, not knowing it was Dave Edmunds unless he was ID'd by the DJ, and I was bopping.
