The Democratic "clown car" is now empty----Bernie Sanders drops out, leaving Joe Biden all alone to try to dethrone President Trump

There is no need for a Democratic primary in New York for President in June.

Bernie Sanders has seen to that.

The Vermont Senator withdrew from the race today, with momentum having swung toward former Vice President Joe Biden. What was a crowded field nearly a year ago is now down to Biden. The nomination at the Democratic National Convention----if it actually happens this summer---in Milwaukee is now a mere formality.

Once again, party leaders have all but gift-wrapped the election. The only thing now that would keep Donald Trump from a second term filled with more of the same delusions, lies, and misinformation is if enough voters decide, due to COVID-19, and Trump's initial tepid response to same, that they've had enough. And that's a big 'if'.

Trump will resume targeting Biden, or more specifically, his son, Hunter, and his dealings in the Ukraine. The baggage isn't quite as heavy as what did in Swillary Clinton four years ago, and, to her credit, she has to this point resisted any and all calls from Democratic party leaders to take another shot. It's bad enough that this year's election coverage will be sponsored by Kimberly-Clark (makers of Depends), Geritol, and Miracle-Ear, but, be honest with yourselves for a second. Who would you rather vote for in November, if in-person voting is even possible, and that's not guaranteed yet? A sitting President who is right up there with Pinocchio and Joe Isuzu when it comes to misinformation, or a former Senator and Vice President?

Of course, if Sanders were to change his mind, redirect, and somehow pull off a miracle, Ben & Jerry's could land sponsorship, too. We're still seven months away from Election Day, and a lot can happen, but, barring Trump putting his feet in his mouth way too much over that time, the Pecos Bill of politics is all but assured another four years of self-embarrassment.

Yeah, I hate to be a Bob Bummer, but apart from this recent development and the Thanos of viruses that is COVID-19, we have to face the very real possibility that we could looking at another four years of Orange Foolius (unless the coronavirus or the cheeseburgers don't get to him first). Our only hope at this point is that if enough independent and moderate voters are so sick of Cheeto Face that they come out in droves to vote against him. That and an act of God, of course.

If the Dorkocrats had their act together, "Cheeto Face" would've been stuck with the fork due to COVID-19. I mean, seriously, he has enough people snowed under thinking he's all that and a bag of chips.

Joe Biden wasn't my first choice, or even my fifth, but even the worst Democratic candidate is better than Trump. A rock star candidate would've been nice, but at this point, I'm willing to settle for someone who isn't going to kill me.

These days I don't even see Republicans or Democrats...I just see Americans and Trump supporters.

It's a simple equation, gang. We only have 2 choices: a human being or another 4 years of Hair Fuhrer. I'm not in love with Uncle Joe the Human Gaffe Machine, I wasn't in love with any of the Dem candidates, but they were all better choices than the Orange Blob. It'd be great to fall in love, but the Trump cult just falls in line. That's what we're up against.

It's like riding the bus; we don't all have to have the same exact destination or purpose of journey in mind, we just have to have enough common ground to be willing to go in the same direction and land in an acceptable geographic range. Right now everyone's goal should be to kick Tweety to the dumpster; we can hash things out and play interior decorator once the orange stain is gone and we've finished fumigating the House.

Someone check and see if Trump needs Ginkoba, because that would explain his lack of memory retention on subjects like COVID-19.

But, seriously, my home area could've been represented had Kirsten Gillibrand stayed in the race, but she was too far behind, and dropped out early. Some folks are talking up Governor Andrew Cuomo, but it's not time yet.

Ron White was right. You can't fix stupid. The Dorkocrats haven't figured that out yet, and neither has Trump.

The President Of The USA is not supposed to be "the most powerful man in the world".
Or even in the nation.
Check out history: most of our Presidents haven't even been most powerful in their own political parties.
This is how it should be - because of our Constitution, which limits the powers of government.
Donald Trump's failing is that he believes that he personally is supposed to be "the Most Powerful Man" - that's why he wanted the title in the first place.
Notice I said "the title", as opposed to "the job", which he had no interest in learning how to do it.
You may not have a high opinion of career politicians like Biden et al., but they know the territory - they try to get things done.
The Hardliners - the Ideologs - they want it Their Way: All Or Nothing.
They better get used to Nothing - because nobody in history ever got All.

By the way, notice that the only name I've called Donald Trump has been his own.
When History is written, that will prove to be damning enough.

Mike, it's because President Trump has so many detractors that have given him funny, insulting names based on his perceived appearance or failings. Notice how in the original text I referenced Pinocchio, Joe Isuzu, and even Pecos Bill.

He's underinformed on purpose. The most self-centered chief executive of all time. If he doesn't start listening to the veteran advisors, and not firing them when they don't give him what he wants, he is going to be, historically, the worst president of all time.

"Going to be"?

Mr. Trump achieved "Worst President Of All Time" quite a while ago.
And for all the reasons you've cited.

I'll point out in passing that I am old enough to have direct memories of Richard M. Nixon.
Also, I've read enough history to know about Warren G. Harding, Franklin Pierce, and James Buchanan, among others.

On any and every level you can name, Donald Trump surpasses all comers.
You might even say - Donald TRUMPS Them All.

When the day finally comes that Mr. Trump's devotees realize that he has well and truly conned them -
- I'm not looking forward to it …

Trump is now a professional time waster with his extra long daily briefings.

We trusted Jimmy Carter.
We trusted Ronald Reagan.
We trusted George H. W. Bush.

Trump fostered distrust in his immediate predecessor, Barack Obama, because he saw how a large section of America was salty about electing the first African-American President.

The longer COVID-19 dominates the headlines, the chances of Trump being re-elected, regardless of Democratic bumbling, are reduced, despite the sheep in the south and midwest.
