You've heard by now that Texas Governor Greg (I Wanna Shake You Down) Abbott has decided to end the mask mandates and other conditions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic. It's clear why he's doing it, even in the face of backlash from both sides of the aisle.
Spring Break is right around the corner. Remember when Empty-V would have its cameras at South Padre Island? They don't do that anymore, sure, but that's still a destination spot for college students, and for them, spring vacation comes within the next 1-3 weeks. Tourism means big bucks in the state's coffers.
Same thing in Mississippi, which also ended its mask mandates. Doing it now is stupid, even with the vaccines, but it's clear governments in Texas & Mississippi are valuing tourism dollars over human lives. Texas, which is home to more political morons, like Abbott and Ted "Sea" Cruz, than any other state, except maybe for Florida, another popular Spring Break destination, will soon see a surge in COVID-19 cases, and Abbott's job may soon be on the line.

Not 3 weeks after this dingus nearly let's the people of Texas freeze to death, he now wants them to risk getting the virus just to line his own pockets, and then as if someone challenged this guy to be an even bigger jackass, he's now trying to blame this on Biden and immigrants. It's like he's trying to get his constituents killed. I nominate this dufus for Weasel of the Week.
Giving him the Weasel ears or a Dunce Cap would've been too easy, else he'd already have gotten those coveted awards.
